Declaration of
Generative AI Use

Authors must declare the use of generative AI in scientific writing upon submission. This guidance refers only to the writing process, not to AI tools used in data analysis or research methodology.

01 Authorship & Accountability

AI tools cannot be listed as authors: only humans can carry the accountability authorship demands.

Full ResponsibilityAuthors verify every AI-touched fact, figure, and citation.
Human OversightAll AI output is critically reviewed and edited by hand.
No Co-authorshipAI is never named author or co-author on any submission.
02 Transparency & Disclosure
What to Disclose
Tool name (ChatGPT, Grammarly, Midjourney…)
Purpose: refinement, grammar, image gen
Extent of the tool's involvement
Where to Disclose
Acknowledgements: general writing help
Methods: analysis or coding tasks
Declaration of AI Use: before References
Sample Statement

"During the preparation of this work, the author(s) used [TOOL] to [REASON], then reviewed and edited the output and take full responsibility for it."

Basic grammar/spell-checkers don't need disclosure. Nothing to declare? Skip the statement.

03 Permissible AI Uses
Language & Grammar: readability, spelling, sentence structure
Drafting Support: non-critical sections (Intro, Discussion)
Brainstorming: ideation and outlining
Data & Visualization: processing, figures, tables
Literature Summaries: verified & properly cited
Translation: reviewed & verified by authors
04 Prohibited Uses of AI
Fictitious ContentNo fabricated data, results, or non-existent references.
PlagiarismAI text drawn from sources must be attributed.
Replacing Human JudgmentHypotheses, design, interpretation stay human-led.
Breaking ConfidentialityManuscripts never go through external AI tools.
MisrepresentationNever mislead readers on methods or results.
05 Editors & Reviewers

To protect manuscript confidentiality, editors and reviewers may not use generative AI: including ChatGPT or similar: during peer review.

Strictly prohibited: feeding manuscript content to any AI system: drafting comments, summarizing, or aiding decisions.
